He served as the Chair of the Exhibits Committee of the American Academy of Optometry for several years. He received the Warren G. and Ruth P. He has been married to wife, Joyce, since 1998. Their children include Amanda (Scott), James, and Jennifer, and a granddaughter, Isla, and grandson, Sladen.

Dr. Cardiff
Kari Rene' Cardiff, O.D. is a proud 2011 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Optometry. She also attended OSU for her undergraduate course of study, graduating in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology. Dr. Cardiff was inspired to become an optometrist at age 17 when a close family member was born with a genetic form of visual impairment.

Although helping anyone see better brings her great joy, Dr. Cardiff has a special interest in caring for pediatric patients as well as patients with visual impairment (aka low vision or vision rehabilitation). She received the Eschenbach Award for Excellence in Low Vision in 2011. During Optometry school, Dr. Cardiff enrolled in additional, elective clinical courses in low vision at The Ohio State School for the Blind in Columbus. This enabled her to obtain more knowledge and experience caring for children with visual impairment outside of the information covered in traditional clinical studies.

She is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Ohio Optometric Association, and the Central Ohio Optometric Association. She also participates as a RealEyes presenter which is a program that educates school-aged kids on the importance of eye care.

Dr. Cardiff grew in up Steubenville, Ohio and graduated from Steubenville High School in 2003. She and her husband, Vince, were high school sweethearts. They were married in 2011 after a 10 year relationship. Dr. Kari and Vince have many dear relatives in Steubenville and visit 'home' frequently. They currently live in Grandview Heights, Ohio with their french bulldog, Niko. They are proud parishioners of St. Christopher Catholic Church. Dr. Cardiff was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic church in 2015. She is one of the high school youth group leaders at St. Christopher's.
